About Gist

Gist: The main point or part. Essence <the gist of an argument>

Gist is an online game where people try to come up with simple definitions for complex concepts. In addition to being fun (and introducing you to some unusual vocabulary), Gist also helps computer scientists teach computers one of the hardest tasks of natural language processing -- paraphrasing.

The rules of the game:

Each post on this forum has a word as its title, and a dictionary definition as its body (from WordNet).

Try to rephrase and/or reword the definition to make it simpler, while still retaining its meaning.
